Poll: Do you consider yourself middle class?

Leo Varadkar said that 70% of people consider themselves middle class in an interview with Vincent Browne on Wednesday.

IN AN INTERVIEW with Vincent Browne on Wednesday evening, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was asked if he represented the middle class in Ireland, and claimed that they were in a large majority.

He said: “Over 70% of people describe themselves as middle class.”

Browne shot back: “Where did you come across that?”

Varadkar said: “It’s a standard statistic, if you ask people.”

So where did this figure come from? A US survey in 2015 showed that 70% of Americans do indeed consider themselves as middle class, but is Ireland the same?

Today, we’re asking you: Do you consider yourself middle class?
