THE DEBATE ON the abortion bill has resumed in the Dáil in advance of the final vote later tonight.

The Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill 2013 is currently at report stage, meaning TDs are debating the amendments that have been tabled in relation to the bill.

In total, 165 amendments have been tabled, but it is not expected that all of these will get discussed this evening. In the last number of hours, six pro-choice TDs unexpectedly announced that they will not be supporting the bill.

The final vote is expected after midnight tonight.
