IT WAS A week in which the issue of abortion once again took centre-stage as the expert group’s report was finally published and the Dáil debated legislation for the X Case.

In Britain the Leveson inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the media caused a considerable storm both in the media and in the political world but it was something else British that drew the envy of the HSE chief, Tony O’Brien.
