Woman allegedly set fire to friend's house 'after Facebook spat'

Friends will be friends, until an unpopular Facebook event intervenes….

POLICE IN DES Moines, Iowa believe that a spat that started on Facebook may be linked to a case where a woman is alleged to have set fire to her friend’s house.

Jennifer Christine Harris is being held on a charge of first degree arson after a fire broke out in the garage of Jim and Nikki Rasmussen’s house in the city of Des Moines on 27 October.

The Des Moines Register reports that Harris and Nikki Rasmussen were friends until a dispute erupted which local police detective Jack Kamerick explained was a result of a Harris asking her friend to set up a Facebook group for a party she was holding.

As the party approached there were “a lot of declines” on Facebook, indicating the event would not go ahead. The dispute intensified, AP reports, with Rasmussen saying that Harris posted “horrible things” about her on the social networking website.

The Daily What adds that no-one was injured in the blaze but the couple’s garage was destroyed.
