2FM announces schedule shakeup with departure of Tracy Clifford and extended morning show

The new schedule, which will begin on 5 May, promises “inclusive” and “upbeat” programming.

RTÉ’S 2FM HAS announced a shakeup to its schedule, which will see Tracy Clifford leave her afternoon show and Doireann Garrihy take on the late morning slot.

The new schedule, which will begin on 5 May, promises “inclusive” and “upbeat” programming.

An extra hour will be added to Breakfast with Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner, which means it will air from 7am to 10am on weekdays.

Doireann Garrihy will return to the schedule after maternity leave with a brand-new earlier programme at 10am.

“After 10 years of radio, it’s an honour to be given the opportunity to steer the ship at the iconic mid-morning slot,” Garrihy said today in an Instagram post.

From 12pm, Demi Isaac will present 2FM Afternoon alongside Mikey O’Reilly. They’ll be broadcasting live from RTÉ’s Cork studios. The pair were selected as hosts through an expressions-of-interest competition that ran across the station last year.

2FM Drive also gets a revamp, with Katja Mia joining Laura Fox.

Mia made her radio debut on 2FM last October when she stepped in to cover a weekend programme. The duo promises “a bigger variety of bold music, all with the authentic and relatable tone that young listeners demand”.

While Tracy Clifford leaves her afternoon slot, RTÉ has hinted at other opportunities for the well-known presenter.

In a statement, the broadcaster said: “Tracy Clifford very much remains part of the RTÉ family and details will be announced in due course.”

Head of RTÉ 2FM, Dan Healy said she did a “phenomenal job” over the last decade.

“I want to thank her and her team for the great radio they have produced over that period.”

At 6pm on weekdays, Beta Da Silva will present a music-centred show with new tunes, gig news, and album breakdowns.
