1. #COURTS: Former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison after faking cancer to con money out of people.

2. #INVESTIGATION: A man aged in his late teens has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal assault of Ryan Gibbons in Kildare town on 26 October.

3. #RIP: President Michael D Higgins has led tributes to Sister Stanislaus Kennedy, a longtime campaign for the poor, the homeless and immigrants, following her death at the age of 86.

4. #DIRECT PROVISION: Asylum seekers who are working in Ireland may have to pay between €15 and €238 a week for their accommodation in Ipas centres under plans to be discussed by the Cabinet sub-committee on migration today.

5. #IVAN YATES: The Justice Minister has said the working relationship between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil has not been damaged – after the latter confirmed that broadcaster and former minister Ivan Yates had been involved in debate preparation for its candidate Jim Gavin.
