1. #DENIS DONALDSON: Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has strongly denied any involvement in the murder of a former IRA and Sinn Féin member who became a British agent. BBC Northern Ireland’s Spotlight last night aired a programme which alleged that Adams had sanctioned the killing.

2. #COURTS: A jury of eight women and seven men has been sworn in for the trial of Sean FitzPatrick at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The former Anglo Irish Bank chairman has denied misleading the bank’s auditors about millions of euro in loans.

3. #DISPUTE: Bus Éireann may face industrial action by staff after workers were told today that there are no plans for any pay rises. Unions had been seeking pay rises for 2,600 staff, similar to the increases sought for Dublin Bus workers.

4. #EIGHTH AMENDMENT: The Citizens’ Assembly, which will discuss the future of the Eighth Amendment in Ireland, will hold its first meeting on Saturday 15 October at the Grand Hotel in Malahide. A polling company has been tasked with selecting 99 members of the public who will be part of the assembly.

5. KERRY: Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae has claimed that gardaí purposely deployed extra speed vans to catch Kerry football fans returning home from a match against Dublin last month. The Kerry TD has described the deployment of the speed vans as “disgraceful”.
