1. #WATER CHARGES: The government is to remove the threat of jail for people who don’t pay their debts – including water charges. Instead, attachment orders will be applied to wages and social welfare, RTÉ reports.

2. #TORNADO: A tornado in Germany has killed a 26-year-old man and left his pregnant girlfriend injured. Witnesses say the tornado picked up cars in Buetzow and the BBC reports that at least 30 people have been injured.

3. #SUSPENDED: A candidate for UKIP in Britain’s general election has been suspended by his party – after being filmed apparently threatening to shoot a Conservative rival.

4. #OBESITY: Nearly all Irish adults are likely to be overweight in 15 years’ time, according to a new WHO study that warns of a European “obesity crisis of enormous proportions”.

5. ATTACKS: Three Sinn Féin councillors were victims of crime in Derry last night, with Martin McGuinness claiming “anti-democratic dissidents” were responsible for at least two of the incidents. The cars of Colly Kelly, Sandra Duffy and Jim McVeigh were targeted in the attacks.

6. #GAS SNIFFING : There’s been an increase in the number of drug users in Dublin sniffing butane gas on the streets, the director of the Ana Liffey Project has said. The service has noticed a rise in the number of people “huffing butane gas” in the last two years, Tony Duffin told TheJournal.ie.

7. #FALLING: Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, which owns The Times, The Sunday Times and the Wall Street Journal, amongst other papers, saw its third quarter net profits fall by 52%, compared to the same period in 2014, according to the BBC.

8. #YES BUT NO BUT: Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald and journalist John Waters were among the big names taking part in last night’s Prime Time debate on same-sex marriage. Here’s how it played out.
