A MAN ABDUCTED  in a Cavan housing estate is now “safe and well” gardaí have confirmed.

An appeal went out last night after 31-year-old Richard O’Donovan was beaten and bundled into a jeep at Swiftbrook Glen in Virginia yesterday afternoon.

An investigation was launched by officers from Baileiboro Garda Station, and a media alert was issued.

However, gardaí confirmed shortly after 11am that O’Donovan was located this morning and made contact with authorities.

The 31-year-old, who lives in Virginia, is known to gardaí and it’s believed the abduction was planned.

He was forced into the jeep by its occupants after their vehicle collided with his car at the entrance to the housing estate at around 3.30pm yesterday.
