AN EMPLOYEE OF An Post who was arrested during an investigation into the interception, theft and unauthorised use of payment cards from the postal system in the Dublin area has been released.
Gardaí said that the man has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Investigating gardaí arrested the man yesterday. On 25 and 26 July a planned operation was carried out by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and An Post.
This led to a search being carried out in the Crumlin area. During this search, gardaí discovered several items which were believed to be stolen, including post.
A man, who is in his 40s and an employee of An Post, was arrested at the scene. He was taken to Terenure Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He has now been released.
