FANCY GETTING YOUR hands on a Warhol original? Or just seeing one up close?
Later this month, four original screenprints by Andy Warhol, the father of the 1960s pop art movement, will be on display at Dublin’s RDS as part of Art Source.
And if you have a few spare tens of thousands of euro to hand, you can bring one home too. Guide prices from Gormley’s Fine Art start at €40,000 for the signed and numbered prints, three of which feature the actress Ingrid Bergman.
The fourth and most expensive print is of the composer Beethoven. It’s one of just 60 made by Warhol and is valued at €140,000. All of the prints were created by the Pennsylvanian artist in New York in the mid-1980s.
Art Source runs from November 9 to 11, and as well as the Warhol prints, features art and photography by a range of Irish and international artists.
You’ll be able to see more pop art from Roy Lichtenstein, check out live music photos of Arcade Fire and Grace Jones by Dublin photographer Ruth Medjber, and pick up one of 100 pieces of original artwork for €100 (if the Warhols are a bit out of your price range).
Along with the Ingrid Bergman With Hat print above, here are the three other Warhol prints that’ll be on show, so you can pick your favourite ahead of time:
1. Ingrid Bergman, Herself (€60,000)
This 1983 screenprint is one of 250, signed and numbered in pencil by Warhol.
2. Beethoven (€140,000)
This rare 1987 print is one of 60, and again comes signed and numbered by the artist.
3. Ingrid Bergman, The Nun (€40,000)
Another 1983 print from Warhol’s Bergman series, this image of the actress as a nun is one of 250 signed and numbered editions.
Art Source takes place from Friday November 9 to Sunday November 11 at Dublin’s RDS. Admission is €10 for adults. Children under 16 go free if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
