'She's our ray of sunshine through the saddest times': Mum Jamie shares the emotional story behind this snap

This week, Jamie Walsh (@littlebowsandtinytoes) chatted us through a photo of her daughter Harper at a very meaningful location.
Tell us a bit about this photo. What inspired you to take it?
This photo was taken back in August. This is myself and my now seven-month-old daughter Harper. It was taken in Passage East at the car ferry in Co Waterford and was taken by my fiancé Robin.
This spot will forever hold a place in my heart as this is where my dad took his last breath. On September 5th 2015, my dad Eddie – who was only 53 -, was on a charity cycle for CRY Ireland. Just before he went to board the ferry in Passage East, his heart took its last beat. Every year since, my dad’s brother and some of his friends cycle the route my dad never got to finish. This photo is from when we went to wave them off this year. You’ll notice a green helmet, which is my dad’s helmet he wore that day.
What’s one thing that’s going on in this photo that you wouldn’t know from looking at it?
Looking at this photo, I don’t think you would realise the actual emotion of that day, but that’s because this little lady is forever making us smile. Even through the saddest times, she’s our little ray of sunshine.
Did it take many attempts to get the right shot?
Harper loves having her picture taken, especially if she can see her self on the screen but on this day it all happened naturally. Robin always prefers photos that are in the moment and not staged, and that’s exactly what he took.
