WITH MULTIPLE BENEFITS for both the planet and your wallet, energy-efficiency has quickly become a priority for house-hunters.
This week, we’re looking at homes around the country that boast energy-friendly features and stylish, modern interiors – from a five-bed in Dundrum to a colourful four-bed in Cork.
Built in 2015, 37 Dealg Bán is a four-bed detached home with an eye-catching interior. Pops of colour throughout the ground floor add a fun feel to the property, with an orange splashback and finishings in the kitchen, a teal feature fireplace in the living room and yellow window frames in the dining room.
Each of the four bedrooms features plush carpet, with fitted wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom. A modern home through and through, No 37 is highly energy efficient, with an A3 Building Energy Rating (BER) and solar panels to provide hot water. There’s a spacious garden and paved area to the rear, while the property itself overlooks a green area.
Part of the brand new Páirc Chuimín development, No 12 is the last remaining house available. A three-bed semi-detached property, it’s an ideal family home with plenty of storage space. Off the kitchen is a large, shelved walk-in pantry, while the master bedroom benefits from a walk-in wardrobe.
In the lounge, there’s a feature wood-burning pedestal stove, which is sure to provide welcome heat during cold winter days. On top of that, there’s underfloor heating through the property, plus an energy-efficient air-to-water heat pump. The development is located in the heart of Kilcummin village and is within walking distance of a primary school, while Killarney town is a 10-minute drive away.
If space is top of your must-have list when house-hunting, 10 Taney Green has it in spades. Spanning 1,829 sq ft, the property covers three floors and features five bedrooms. Built in 2016, No 10 was the show house of the development and is finished to a high standard. The heart of the home is undoubtedly the open-plan kitchen, living and dining room, with sleek cabinets, a centre island and a bespoke built-in dining area.
Velux windows flood the space with light, while French doors open to the south-west facing rear garden. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, plus a family bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. Two more bedrooms are on the second floor, including the master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. Features including photovoltaic solar panels, high levels of insulation and triple glazing ensure lower levels of energy usage throughout the home.
Located in the new Marina Village development in Greystones, Co Wicklow, 13 The Moorings is a four-bed terraced house. The property boasts a highly sought-after location, with the seafront just a stone’s throw away and Greystones village just a 15-minute walk from your door.
There’s a large open-plan living, kitchen and dining area to the rear of the property, which is further extended by sliding doors that open to an Indian sandstone patio. There’s also a Shomera at the end of the garden. The property features a Panasonic air source heat pump system, and an A-rating for energy efficiency.
