Each week, we take an Insta-worthy room in Ireland and show you how you can get the look yourself with high street buys.
This week, Janice Kernoghan-Reid’s (@the_lazy_decorator) guest bedroom was our inspiration.
“This was a fairly neutral room and the agreed plan with my husband was just to freshen it up with a coat of paint in the same shade, but I love bold colour and high contrast and I just found it depressing to spend time and money to make the room look the same at the end,” says Janice.
“I went rogue, bought the dark green paint I’d been lusting over for ages and came out of the room when it was finished.”
Made.com, Ikea and Wayfair are Janice’s main port of call when decorating a room. Below are six high-street products that’ll help you get this look in your own home…
1. Printed rug, €33.19 (£29.99), Wayfair
This gorgeous printed rug is similar to Janice’s and won’t break the bank.
2. Tassel cushion cover, €9.99, H&M
Add different textures to your room with tassel cushions and fringed blankets.
3. Floor lamp, €40, Ikea
Save space on your bedside table by choosing a floor lamp instead.
4. Antique-effect globe, €23.79, Eason
This antique-effect globe from Eason is similar to Janice’s bookends, but you might find a similar second-hand one in a charity shop for even less.
5. Artificial plant, €22.50, JYSK
An artificial plant is a must-have in any Insta-worthy bedroom.
6. Green velvet cushion cover, €5.50, Ikea
Update a duvet set with new cushion covers in an on-trend colour, like these dark green ones from Ikea.
