THIS WEEK WE’RE heading to the midlands to find out what you could get for under €475k in today’s property market.
It can be hard to find the time to trawl through listings, so let us take a load off. If you’re looking to buy in Co Offaly, one of these houses may just tick all of the boxes.
If starting your own bricks and mortar business is a dream of yours, this is a large family home that has a shop space to the side. Just off the R420 regional road, the village of Walsh Island is a walk away while Portarlington is just a 15 minutes drive away, Edenderry is 20 and Tullamore is 25. This is also handy for those who work in the capital a few days a week as Dublin is less than an hour and a half away.
Inside, the main house is ready to go. The bedrooms are all double, and one is on the ground floor with the guest toilet. Also on the ground floor is a lounge and a separate dining room that leads to the kitchen. From the kitchen, you can reach the back yard. The bedrooms upstairs share a family bathroom.
This four-bed that sits just under an acre and is roomy and well-connected inside. The hallway leads to the large sitting room that has bi-folding doors to an open plan kitchen and dining room. More bi-folding doors open to the bright sunroom and lounge that leads to the outdoor deck. Off the kitchen is a handy utility room.
Each bedroom in this 168 m² home is a double – one has an en suite bathroom while the others share the main bathroom. To the side of the house sits a detached garage. The towns of Kilcormac, Tullamore and Birr are all under a twenty minute drive away.
Spread over a whopping 344 m² Melrose is a dormer bungalow with a south-facing back garden that’s private and has a covered outdoor seating area to entertain in. Plenty of parking, lawns and a block built shed complete the outdoor space. In terms of location, the town of Edenderry is close by while a 25 minute drive will bring you to Tullamore. Dublin is about an hour away.
The house has a B2 BER, so it needs little in the way of unseen upgrades. With large social rooms, this is an ideal spot for a big family or those who love to host guests. The open plan kitchen and dining area is spacious and leads to the sunroom to the back of the house. Of the seven bedrooms, five have en suite bathrooms. There’s also a family bathroom on the ground floor while the two bedrooms upstairs share the floor with a shower room and a study.
If views and land are on your list of must-haves, then check out this bungalow located on a gated elevated site that’s over an acre. The house is already a roomy 156 m², yet there is an opportunity to extend. The property is currently subject to a planning application to increase the floor space to 229 m² for the addition of a walk-in wardrobe, an en suite bathroom, shower room, utility room and two more bedrooms.
Inside comprises two open plan spaces – a kitchen and dining room along with a living room and dining room. There’s also a study, utility room and two bedrooms. A loft area is currently being used as a playroom. Thanks to an upgrade and refurbishment by the current owners, the BER is B3.
