LAST TUESDAY WAS the second shortest day in world history.

Earth completed a full rotation in 1.34 milliseconds less than the usual 24 hours, making 22 July slightly shorter than usual.

The phenomenon occurred due to tidal friction with the moon.

The only day shorter than last Tuesday was 5 July 2024, when Earth completed its rotation 1.66 milliseconds faster than usual.

In honour of this bizarre and completely unnoticeable change, we have made a quiz on the shortest things in the world!
