Irish screen stars gather as Hamnet and Christy dominate IFTA awards night
Tonight’s ceremony took place at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.

THE IRISH SCREEN industry, big and small, turned out in force at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre tonight as the Irish Film and Television Academy handed out its annual awards.
It was a big night for Hamnet and Cork drama Christy.
Jessie Buckley continued her awards-season run by picking up the Lead Actress award, while Brendan Canty’s Christy scooped Best Film and Best Director.
Elsewhere, Louisa Harland, who recently starred in the Walsh Sisters (and is perhaps best known for her iconic performance as Orla McCool in Derry Girls) picked up the IFTA Rising Star award.
There were also wins for Éanna Hardwicke (Saipan), Kerry Condon (F1), Paul Mescal (Hamnet) and Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), as well as a Lifetime Achievement honour for Belfast actor Ciarán Hinds.
In the drama categories, Blue Lights won Best Drama for its third season.
Rachel Carey won Director (Drama) for Obituary and Ailbhe Keogan won Script (Drama) for Trespasses.
