IARNRÓD ÉIREANN TODAY lodged a planning application for a new train station at Moyross, Co Limerick, which will be located on the Limerick to Galway rail line.

If planning is granted and funding allocated, construction on the station is expected to begin in 2026 and take 15 months to complete.

The station is designed to cater to the growing population of Moyross and improve connectivity to Limerick city centre, Galway, Cork, Dublin, and local attractions.

It to be located at the rear of Corpus Christi Primary School and Moyross Community Enterprise Centre. Access to the station is proposed adjacent to both Corpus Christi Parish Church, and from Moyross Avenue through the Millennium Park.

The project is funded by the Department of Transport through the National Transport Authority, and forms part of the Department of Transport’s Pathfinder Programme, to deliver sustainable travel links across the country.

The new station will also integrate with Limerick City and County Council’s proposed University Avenue scheme, as well as the NTA’s BusConnects Limerick, and the proposed Limerick CycleConnects Network.

Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien said: “I am delighted to see this rail project progressing for the people of Moyross and Limerick. The proposed new Moyross train station aims to provide a key public transport connection to the growing urban area of Moyross, supporting its regeneration.”
