Man (20s) arrested after ketamine worth over €500,000 seized in Co Kildare

The drugs were seized as part of an intelligence-led operation involving Gardaí and Revenue.

A MAN IN his 20s has been arrested after nine kilograms of ketamine with an estimated value of €540,000 was seized in Co Kildare.

The drugs were seized as part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Newbridge Drug Unit and officers from Revenue. 

The man was arrested under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

He is currently being detained in a Garda station in Co Kildare.

A garda spokesperson said investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
