Nick Reiner to be charged with first degree murder of his parents and could face death penalty

Acclaimed Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in their home.

THE SON OF famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner will be charged with two counts of first degree murder over the brutal slaying of his parents in their Los Angeles home, the city’s chief prosecutor said today.

Nick Reiner, 32, could face the death penalty if convicted of the charges, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said.

“These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility parole or the death penalty,” Hochman said.

“Nick Reiner is being held without bail.”

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said Reiner, who has a history of addiction stretching back to his teenage years, was arrested without incident a few hours after his parents’ bodies were discovered.

“Today, the Los Angeles County district’s attorney’s office has formally filed charges against Mr Reiner for the murder of his parents.”
