Man arrested following daytime stabbing in Cork city centre

A man has been hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries following the incident.

A MAN IN his forties has been hospitalised following a stabbing incident that took place in the middle of one of Cork city’s busiest streets today. 

Gardaí were called to the scene of the assault on Oliver Plunkett Street at around 12:40pm today. 

It’s understood that the incident took place nearby the threshold of a shop. 

A garda spokesperson said that a man in his 30s has been arrested in connection to the incident, and that he is being detained at a Garda Station in Cork city. 

The injured man is being treated in hospital for “non-life threatening injuries”, the garda spokesperson added. 

They added that investigations are ongoing.
