Woman (60s) arrested in connection with fatal assault that resulted in death of man in his 50s

Gardaí responded to reports of an assault that occurred on Foster Terrace, Dublin 3 at around 1.30am on Saturday, 31 January.

A WOMAN IN her 60s has been arrested as part of investigations into a fatal assault that left a man dead in Ballybough, Dublin, last month.

Shortly before 1.30am on Saturday, 31 January, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault that occurred on Foster Terrace, Dublin 3.

A man in his 50s was discovered with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. 

A woman was taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, while a second woman was hospitalised with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman who was arrested today is currently detained at a garda station in Dublin.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.

Speaking at the time of the fatal assault, Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam said the community of Ballybough were in shock.

“As lord mayor of Dublin and as a local councillor, I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of a man in his 50s following an assault in Dublin,” McAdam said in a statement at the time.

“My thoughts are with those injured, and with the family and loved ones of the deceased at this extremely difficult time.”
