Johnny Ronan's group gets green light to build more offices on Dublin's quays

Global commerical bank Citi’s current premises will be partially demolished and redeveloped into further commercial space.

THE RONAN GROUP has been granted planning permission by Dublin City Council to redevelop 1 North Wall Quay, which currently houses global commercial bank Citi.

The approval allows for the partial demolition and the removal of existing facades from the 5-6 storeys office building currently on the site.

The development will consist of four adjoining office blocks ranging in height from seven to 12 storeys over an existing basement comprising office accommodation and community space.

There will be outdoor terraces provided at six of the floor levels in the 12-storey block, with a shared atrium between the 12-storey and neighbouring 10-storey blocks.

The development includes plans for a landscaped community pocket park spanning 244 square metres to the east of the building with a pedestrian link “that will enhance the public realm from North Wall Quay to Clarion Quay”.

Citi is expected to vacate the premises shortly and move into its new offices (also built by the Ronan Group) further down the Liffey’s quays at Waterfront South Central, beside the 3Arena.

Chief executive of the property developer group Rory Williams said it was “very much another good news day for Ronan Group and for the development of best-in-class commercial space in Dublin along the Liffey quays”.

The group, which was founded by developer Johnny Ronan, has built the Salesforce tower on Spencer Place, is completing Citi’s new premises, and has been granted planning permission for a 25-storey residential building beside that development.
