Baby, just say yes (to the dress): Irish designer created Taylor Swift's wedding look

Derry-native Jonathan Anderson is the creative director at Dior.

THERE IS AN Irish connection to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

The couple tied the knot in New York this week, and we’re slowly learning more about the ultra-private nuptials.

Photos of the multi-day celebrations have yet to be released, so we can’t see the bride and groom’s outfits.

However, Swift’s publicist revealed on Friday that the couple’s wedding looks were created by Christian Dior Haute Couture.

The fashion house has an Irish connection. Its artistic director is Jonathan Anderson.

Anderson is a native of Magherafelt, Co Derry, and the son of former Irish rugby international Willie Anderson.

Upon his appointment to the fashion house in April 2025, he became the first single designer to oversee the brand’s womenswear, menswear, and haute couture divisions since Christian Dior himself.

Anderson is known as a low-key figure, who often appears dressed casually at the end of his shows.

He’ll be further thrust into the spotlight now with his name attached to “America’s royal wedding”.

Tree Paine, Swift’s long-time publicist, said in a statement on Friday: “The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture.

“They are designed by Jonathan Anderson … in close collaboration with the bride and groom.”

Their shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin – the designer of her iconic Eras Tour red bottoms. Swift wore Cartier jewellery.

It has not been officially confirmed whether the bride opted for a dress, but fans speculate she’ll make the traditional choice, evoking the fairytale-like romance Swift often writes about.

Before Dior, Anderson spent 11 years at Loewe, where he designed iconic looks, including the jumpsuit Rihanna wore for her 2023 Super Bowl half-time performance.

Anderson graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2005 and began his career in Prada’s marketing department before launching his own brand, JW Anderson, in 2008.
