Teenager and woman in her 50s injured in aggravated burglary at Athlone house

Two men in their 20s have been arrested.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested following what gardaí described as an aggravated burglary at a home in Athlone on Thursday. 

It happened at a house on St Peter’s Terrace at around 4pm.

Residents of the home, a man in his late teens and woman in her 50s were taken to Portiuncula University Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. 

Gardaí arrested two men in their late 20s in connection with the investigation today.

The men are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in Westmeath.

Forensic tests have been carried out at the scene.
