IF I HAD the money I’d buy…
A super-sized seven-seat SUV with a powerful V8 engine under the bonnet. A family motor that isn’t just luxurious but technologically advanced too with plenty of safety features to protect you as well as other road users too. I’d buy an Audi SQ7.
Why an Audi SQ7?
Well, if you are going to buy a family car it might as well be big and luxurious and the most powerful diesel SUV on the market.
The SQ7 is the performance version of the regulate Audi Q7. But the SQ7 doesn’t just have a powerful engine going for it, it actually has a lot to offer in terms of safety features and technology, as well as buckets of room for the whole family.
This is a proper seven-seat SUV. The third row is actually usable and even with all seven seats in use there is still room for luggage in the boot. Out on the road it is imposing and has vice-like grip thanks to the Quattro all-wheel drive system. And it is quick too thanks to a trick new electric-charged diesel engine, which combines turbocharging with an electrically powered compressor to reduce lag.
The Audi SQ7 really is a very competent and capable motor and more car than you’ll ever need.
What’s special about this particular one?
This particular example is finished in Orca Black metallic paint and rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels. The exterior features the S-Line pack, body coloured mirrors and bumpers, privacy glass and roof rails. The interior is finished in black leather with a black dash and black headliner.
There is a three-spoke flat-bottomed leather multi-function sports steering wheel and plenty of toys like sat-nav, deluxe automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth, Audi Connect Infotainment Services and the wonderful Audi virtual cockpit.
Safety features include cruise control with speed limiter, hill hold assist, an acoustic and visual park assist system for the front and rear with MMI screen display and pre sense city, which detects vehicles and pedestrians in front of the vehicle and if an imminent collision is detected, the system warns the driver. Also, subject to certain system limits, the system may initiate an emergency braking and if possible prevent the collision.
What does it look like in action?
It looks fast. Very fast. Watch as Le Mans and DTM champion Mike Rockenfeller races the Audi SQ7 against a 10,600hp Red Bull Alpha Jet.
Who else drives one?
The Audi SQ7 is the vehicle of choice for Captain America. It is the perfect car to help save the world, after the school run, of course.
It costs €134,244. What else could you get for the money?
Got your heart set on a big, powerful SUV? Then, for the same money, you could have this brand new Range Rover.
… or for €117,946 you can have this Mercedes-Benz GLS.
