THE AVERAGE ASKING price of a home in Blackpool, Cork is now just over €170,000, according to the latest figures from Daft.ie.
Analysis across all properties brought to market in the area between April and June 2018 puts the average list price at €171,224.
This is the lowest of any Cork city neighbourhood tracked by Daft.ie. The nearest comparison is the neighbouring Cork North-West area, where the equivalent figure is €180,899. The average puts Blackpool in the bottom 25 per cent of neighbourhoods around the country by price.
However, prices in Blackpool have risen rapidly in recent years – almost doubling since the recession with a 98.6 per cent increase. This is a much steeper rise than that seen by other Cork neighbourhoods. In the Montenotte and Tivoli area for example, the average price is €284,638 but this figure has increased by a relatively small 49.1 per cent since 2012.
During the Celtic Tiger, prices in Blackpool hit an all-time high of €299,407 in 2006. They then dropped precipitously to a low point of €86,232 in 2012.
