Money recovered after Blackrock Post Office robbery

A man in his late 20s has been arrested.

A SUM OF money that was stolen from Blackrock Post Office in Dublin this afternoon has been recovered following the arrest of a man in his late 20s.

Gardaí arrested the suspect on Frascati Road as he attempted to flee the scene after 4pm today.

He had entered the Post Office minutes earlier and threatened staff with what appeared to be a handgun. There was nobody injured in the incident and he left the building with a haul of cash.

Garda units responding to the robbery confronted him and he was detained. The stolen money and what is understood to be an imitation firearm were recovered.

The man is being questioned at the local garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
