IF YOU’RE LOOKING for a home outside the capital with space, beautiful gardens and bright interiors, one of these properties might be for you.
This week, we’re looking at bungalows around the country with spacious interiors and exteriors – from a two-bed close to Cork city to a modern property in Co Wicklow.
Measuring 2,497 sq ft, 1 Ballyshannon is a spacious family home on 0.3 acres. The four-bed property, which was built in 2004, is in a quiet but convenient location, with Kilcullen town less than a 10-minute drive away and Newbridge just a 15-minute drive away. Closer to home, there’s a primary school within a five-minute walk of the property.
Inside, the living areas are large and spacious and include a sitting room, an open-plan kitchen and living room, and a sunroom. On the first floor, there are two large rooms which offer a multitude of uses. The garden is ideal for those with a green thumb, with manicured lawns, mature trees and hedging and flower beds to the front and rear.
Located a stone’s throw from Cork University Hospital and Wilton Shopping Centre, 8 Laburnum Park also benefits from being within a 15-minute drive of Cork city. The two-bed bungalow has a warm and welcoming interior, including a light-filled open-plan kitchen, living and dining area to the rear.
Sliding glass doors lead from here to the rear garden, where there’s a patio area and a large lawn. Picturesque flowers, mature trees and hedging surround the property, while features inside include oak flooring, multi-fuel stoves and quartz worktops in the kitchen.
A four-bedroom property, De Porres boasts an impressive interior and exterior, with cast iron automatic gates and limestone walls on either side opening to the driveway. There’s a lawn area area to the front, while the west-facing back garden enjoys a sense of privacy. A raised decking area here makes for the perfect space to dine al fresco.
Inside, features include porcelain tiled flooring, hardwood oak flooring, feature fireplaces and a hand-painted solid oak kitchen. For special occasions, there’s a formal dining room with window seating, while the open-plan kitchen and dining area is ideal for day-to-day usage. University Hospital Limerick is less than a 10-minute drive away, while Limerick city can be reached in 15 minutes.
A four-bed dormer bungalow, Ballyhook Lodge is a modern property with an attractive interior. Measuring 2,690 sq ft, the spacious accommodation includes an upgraded kitchen with integrated appliances, a centre island and a large utility room. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor, with a walk-in wardrobe and study room also here.
Ballyhook Lodge benefits from a purpose-built home studio with a separate entrance, giving extra space for work or hobbies. Outside, the property sits on one acre of grounds with landscaped gardens, a patio area and a winding driveway. Grangecon village is a five-minute drive away, with a primary school here.
