The Passport Office on Dublin's Molesworth St. Photocall Ireland

Passport applicants must use 'Express' service from 30 June

The Department of Foreign Affairs says the new rule will make the process quicker and cheaper for customers heading into the busy summer period.

ANYONE APPLYING FOR a new passport from the end of next month will have to use the ‘Passport Express’ service from An Post, rather than regular or registered post.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says the move is being made in order to make the process easier and quicker for customers.

A notice in today’s national papers states that all applications arriving after 30 June that haven’t been sent via the express service will be sent back.

A spokesperson for the DFA told TheJournal.ie the new rule would also make the process cheaper, with an express application costing just €89, compared to €95 plus the price of postage for the more traditional method.

It will, of course, still be possible to submit an application in person at either of the Passport Offices on Dublin’s Molesworth Street, or at South Mall in Cork.

A new appointment service has also been launched for customers who want to book a slot to have their passport processed in person at the Dublin office.

It is planned the same system will be rolled out in Cork in the coming months.

Yet again you’ve read my mind its uncanny Dr- I mean Mr Phil, I took such advice years back and feel just scrumptious now. Instead of blaming myself i find it far more fulfilling to Blame everybody else’s myopia for my circumstances. Its not perfect but it works for me lol
