Two men charged as €700,000 worth of suspected cocaine seized in Cork

Cocaine, cannabis and cash sums were seized during garda searches in the Douglas area this week.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED two men in Cork and seized a large haul of drugs and cash as part of an operation targeting organised crime.

As part of Operation Tara, a garda drugs unit in Cork carried out searches in the Douglas area on Tuesday, seizing €700,000 of suspected cocaine, €60,000 of cannabis, and over €40,000 in cash.

Follow-up searches by the gardaí in Dublin yesterday uncovered an additional 0.5kg of cannabis worth around €9,000 and €4,000 in cash.

Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were detained during the searches, and have since been charged.

They are due to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court tomorrow morning.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson added.
