A 59-YEAR-OLD council worker has died after being struck by a car while directing traffic at a roadworks site yesterday afternoon.
The man was directing traffic at a works site at Graiguesallagh, outside Maynooth in Co Kildare, when he was struck by a car driven by a lone male.
The worker was badly injured and removed by ambulance to Naas General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda forensic collision investigators, and the Health and Safety Authority has been informed.
