Two men dead and three teenagers seriously injured after separate crashes in Midwest

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to both fatal incidents.

TWO MEN IN their 20s have died after separate crashes in counties Limerick and Tipperary.

The Limerick crash happened overnight and has also left three teenagers with serious injuries.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a two-car collision on the N21 at Ballymurragh West in the area of Templeglantine that occurred at approximately 12:50am.

One of the drivers – the man in his 20s – was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Three teenagers – two female juveniles and an adult male – were brought to University Hospital Limerick and University Hospital Kerry for treatment of serious injuries according to gardaí.

A man also aged in his 20s was brought to University Hospital Kerry with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – and were traveling on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West between midnight and 1:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí at Newcastle West Garda Station or any Garda station.

Tipperary

Separately, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the single-car collision on the N24 at Cordangan Cross near Tipperary town at approximately 9:45pm las.

The male driver and sole occupant, aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed this morning pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Tipperary crash

Gardaí have confirmed that a man also died following a road traffic collision near Tipperary town.

Emergency services were alerted to the single-car collision on the N24 at Cordangan Cross at approximately 9:45pm.

The male driver and sole occupant of the car, aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses, including whether anyone has information on a 2005-registered grey Toyota Yaris that may have been in the area.

“In particular, Gardaí are interested in potential sightings of a 2005-registered grey Toyota Yaris during this period,” a garda spokesperson said.

Any road users who may have camera footage and were traveling in the area around Tipperary town and the Bansha Road between 9:00pm and 10:00pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

The road remains closed this morning pending a technical examination. Local diversions are in place.
