Coastal views and hiking trails at this light-filled retreat near Croagh Patrick
Coral Lodge is on the market for €525,000.

POSITIONED ON AN elevated site in Deerpark West, Co Mayo, is Coral Lodge.

This six-bed home sits just outside the village of Murrisk, between Westport and Louisburgh. Murrisk is often the starting point for pilgrims to Croagh Patrick, given its position right at the foot of the mountain, so impressive West of Ireland views won’t be hard to come by here.

It’s clear the home was designed to maximise its beautiful surroundings. You’ll find large feature windows in the living room and dining room, perfect for gazing out at Murrisk Bay.

The front garden is another ideal spot to enjoy views of the coast, while the rear garden is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with sights of Croagh Patrick in the distance.

Coral Lodge is ideally located for those who love being close to the water as Murrisk Pier, which flows into the North Atlantic Ocean, is a 10-minute walk away, while the Blue Flag Bertra Beach can be reached in the same amount of time by car.

The 2,820 sq ft house is approached via a winding incline driveway, with a raised lawn to the right.

Stepping inside, a large feature staircase is the focal point of the bright and airy hallway. Coral Lodge boasts a clean and uncluttered interior with plenty of natural light, making it easy for its new owners to settle in and make the house their own.

The living room, with uninterrupted views of the bay, is accessed from here. There’s room for a large sofa to relax on, while a wood-burning stove adds a cosy feel.

Next is the dining room, which easily fits a table for eight. This room also benefits from views of the bay and a wood-burning stove, and could double up as another living area.

The kitchen overlooks the rear garden and features plenty of storage space and worktop space, with even more of both in the utility room. Two large double bedrooms and three bathrooms complete the ground floor accommodation.

Moving to the first floor, there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms here, with Velux windows filling each room with natural light.

There’s even more space on the second floor, which is divided into two rooms. One is used for storage, while the other operates as a home office. Either of these rooms could be used as a playroom, home gym or home cinema – or whatever you might need.

Separately, there’s a detached double garage to the side of the property. This offers a multitude of uses, whether that’s as a workshop or den, while the first floor is currently used as a gym.

Murrisk Village is a 15-minute walk from Coral Lodge. For journeys further afield, Westport is a 10-minute drive away, and Castlebar is 30 minutes away.

With an idyllic location and plenty of scope to make it your own, Coral Lodge is a stellar opportunity to take on a new project close to one of Ireland’s most famous landmarks.
