The umpire said she could request that the child sent out of the stadium, but that the match had to continue Alamy Stock Photo

Is it fair to ask crying children to leave an event?

Emma Raducanu was disturbed by a crying child during her match at the Cincinnati Open, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka.

A CRYING CHILD briefly stole the spotlight at yesterday’s Cincinnati Open – enough for tennis player Emma Raducanu to ask that they be removed from the stadium.

During Raducanu’s match against Aryna Sabalenka, she stopped and brought the disturbance to the chair umpire’s attention, saying: “It’s been, like, 10 minutes.”

“It’s a child, do you want me to send the child out of the stadium?” the umpire asked, to which Raducanu shrugged and pointed toward the crowd – who were chanting for the child to be removed.

So, we want to know your thoughts: Is it fair to ask crying children to leave an event?
