Cyberattackers now using AI to automate attacks – what can Irish businesses do to defend against them?

Cybersecurity and compliance have never been more important. Make sure your business is safeguarded.

THE RAPID ADVANCE of technology comes with many opportunities, but it is not without its risks.

As automation and artificial intelligence become more sophisticated, businesses need to be well-equipped to deal with any security risks that might arise as a result of cyberattacks.

While cyberattacks have been supercharged by advances in AI, there are cybersecurity experts who have been around the block and know how you can take robust steps to protect yourself and your business. As a responsible Irish business, making sure to meet and gain knowledge from these experts is essential. You can do that at the Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland.

Now in its ninth year, Cyber Expo & Conference Ireland 2026 is set to take place in the Leopardstown Pavilion at Leopardstown Racecourse on 20 May, from 8am to 5pm. The event is free for all to attend, though it is strictly business-oriented and is not suitable for students.

Good cybersecurity is essential for any modern business with any kind of digital footprint or any organisation responsible for safeguarding the data of its users and clients.

It is also imperative that any modern business is compliant with new EU cybersecurity laws which come into force this year, including NIS2 (Network & Information Security 2) and DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act).

The event is tailored to those who work in IT and cybersecurity, as well as those with responsibility for risk and compliance within their organisation. Discussions at the event will focus on providing insights, information and solutions to the modern challenges in a range of pivotal areas including AI in cybersecurity, identity and access, regulatory compliance, ransomware and resilience, supply chain risk, data security, social engineering, operational technology, endpoint and cloud security, emerging threats, and a establishing a dedicated MSP and channel track.

The day brings together cybersecurity vendors, channel partners, IT teams, and business decision-makers for a mix of practical learning and hands-on exploration. Attendees will hear from organisations who’ve implemented security and compliance solutions in the real world, with case studies that go beyond just theory.

A full line-up of speakers, list of exhibitions and full session programme for the event will be published in the coming weeks.

This year’s event will feature over 25 global cybersecurity vendors, and more than 20 Ireland-based MSPs, VARs and industry specialists across the expo and conference programme. Expert seminars and panel discussions will give a comprehensive overview of the new reality facing Irish organisations, where AI is embedded in both the attacker’s arsenal and the defender’s toolkit.

Between sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to meet leading security vendors on the expo floor, see live demonstrations, and speak directly with specialists who can answer your specific questions. Whether you represent a large enterprise or a small to medium business, these discussions will prove invaluable over the coming year as your organisation navigates a rapidly changing technological landscape.
