GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED an appeal after a cyclist was found with life-threating injuries near Knock Airport this afternoon following a serious crash.
The incident occurred on the N17 in Co Mayo today on the road between the airport and Charlestown.
Investigators are seeking to clarify whether there was more than one vehicle involved.
“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward,” a Garda spokesperson said.
The cyclist, aged in his 60s, was found with life-threatening injuries at around 12:20pm, and was brought by ambulance to hospital.
A technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda forensic collision specialists. A stop/go system has been erected on the road.
Any road users who were on the N17 between the airport and Charlestown between 11:45am and 12:20pm and may have footage – such as dash-cam – are asked to contact Gardaí.
The Garda spokesperson said that anyone with information is asked to contact Swinford Garda Station on 09492 52990, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
