DONALD TRUMP HAS been going to efforts to prove to voters that his trademark hairdo is legit.
The 69-year-old billionaire was appearing on stage in South Carolina yesterday before his supporters.
Holding a copy of The New York Times, he read from an article that said that Spanish-language radio host Ricardo Sanchez had taken to calling Trump ‘el hombre de peluquín’ – which translates as ‘the man of the toupee’.
Trump went on to express disbelief that this had appeared on the front page of the paper and stated, “I don’t wear a toupee. It’s my hair.”
He then asked a member of the audience to come on stage and check that his hair was indeed real. She briefly pulled at the side of his head and confirmed to the audience that she thought that it was, saying, “I do believe it is.”
Polls currently have Trump leading the race for the Republican’s nomination for the 2016 presidential election.
He yesterday made comments following the shooting of two journalists in Virginia that the debate should focus on mental health and not gun control.
