Dublin woman Gail Slater leaves White House job less than a year after appointment

Slater worked under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been accused by the Democrats of a “cover-up” of the Jeffrey Epstein files this week.

IRISHWOMAN GAIL SLATER has left her role in the Trump administration less than a year after being appointed by the US president.

The Dublin woman (54) was made Assistant Attorney General of the antitrust division in the US justice department last May.

Slater worked under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been accused by the Democrats of a “cover-up” of the Jeffrey Epstein files this week.

News of her departure comes amid internal turmoil at her department and reports that cases were being undermined by White House-connected lobbyists.

Slater’s departure leaves the antitrust division with little senior leadership.

In a social media post announcing her departure, Slater described the role as “the honour of a lifetime”.

“It is with great sadness and abiding hope that I leave my role as AAG for Antitrust today,” she said on X.

“Huge thanks to all who supported me this past year, most especially the men and women of [the antitrust division in the US justice department].”

The antitrust division was focused on a crackdown on Big Tech companies.

Slater graduated from University College Dublin with a law degree and has been living in the US since 2003.

She previously served as a policy adviser to Vice President JD Vance during the 2024 presidential campaign and advised Trump’s transition team on antitrust matters.

Slater also worked as an adviser to Julie Brill, a former Democratic Federal Trade Commissioner in President Barack Obama’s administration.
