PARIS’S EIFFEL TOWER was closed for several hours yesterday after an intruder with a backpack was spotted inside the iconic monument before its daily opening hours, officials said.
The tower was reopened at 2:45 pm (12.45 pm Irish time) after being closed to the public for the morning, the press department for the tourist attraction said.
Before it opened yesterday morning, “an individual was seen in the structure with a backpack”, a source close to the matter said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“To remove all doubt, a helicopter was sent to carry out an inspection of the structure.”
Firefighters were also dispatched to the site, but “found nothing”, according to a fire department spokesman.
A policeman at the scene said the intruder may have been an adventurer seeking to parachute off the tower, which is 324 metres tall — a sight not uncommon in the French capital. In 2005, however, a Norwegian man died while attempting a similar feat.
The “Iron Lady” attracts around seven million visitors a year, of which nearly nine in 10 are foreign tourists.
“Do we have a terrorist problem now?”
No , all is love and hugs and kisses across Europe.
Charlie Hebdo , Lee Rigby, 2010 Stockholm bombings, 2011 Frankfurt Airport shooting,On 24 May 2014, a gunman opened fire at the Jewish Museum of Belgium killing 4, On 21 December 2014, a man in the French city of Dijon was arrested after running over 11 pedestrians in five areas of the city in the space of half an hour. Two were seriously injured.
The man was shouting the Islamic expression “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great). The attack came a day after a man shouting the same expression was shot by police in Joué-lès-Tours after he had wounded three of them with a knife.[1] The Dijon attack was followed the next day by the 2014 Nantes attack, 4 killed in the supermarket attack at Porte de Vincennes, then Hervé Cornara was beheaded not to mention the the Thalys train attack.
I guess we are living in the Brotherhood, love and peace, unless the apologists for the excesses of Islam beg to differ ?
I hadn’t noticed that Muslims had the monopoly on murder or that it was a behaviour limited only to their religion. In fact I am fairly confident that we have murders of other creeds amoung us, and I don’t find it any less acceptable when they call themselves Christians.
PARIS – French authorities have foiled a plot by four would-be extremists to attack military bases, the interior minister said Wednesday.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 23, were arrested Monday at four separate locations around France, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.
Cazeneuve said the group’s leader had been under surveillance after his online activities raised investigators’ suspicions. He had also triggered alarms by signaling his desire to travel to Syria, Cazeneuve said. One of the suspects was a former member of the French navy, Cazeneuve said.
The minister said authorities break up similar plots every week in France, where more than 300 people have been implicated in jihadi activities since 2012.
There are no known links between the suspects arrested Monday and a double blast Tuesday at a petrochemical plant in southern France, Cazeneuve said.
A total of 1,850 French citizens or permanent residents are implicated in jihadi networks, and 500 are believed to be currently in Syria or Iraq, Cazeneuve said.
The dhimmi will soon be claiming that Charlie Hebdo ever happened at all. 1850 is a lot of terrorists for the French to worry about, remember that just one of them has to get past the security checks to cause carnage as they have done and continue to try. Sweden is even worse off as they have too many bleeding hearts running the place. Malmö has been hit by more than 30 explosions since the start of the year.
It’s one of Islamic States defined aims to blow up the Eiffel Tower, and now with thousands of Muslims in Europe fresh from the Middle East to join with Muslims already in France, they now have an army to attack symbols of France..and Europe
Sweden’s third largest city, Malmö, has descended into chaos as police respond to a huge rise in racism and tensions between ethnic groups, involving bombs, hand grenades and guns.
It follows a spate of clashes between different ethnic groups in Malmö, in what police describe as a worrying rise in racial tensions dating back over a decade. It highlights tensions within Sweden due to the rise in migrants from many different ethnic groups coming in from Europe and elsewhere. The city also has a long history of anti-Semitic abuse.

It was after all the Swedes who suggested to the Nazis about giving Jews different passports.
During the 30′s Sweden was concerned about so many Jews fleeing there from Germany. As it didn’t want to restrict visa free travel for most Germans it asked the Nazis to stamp the passport of Jews with the letter J
Lesson from history perhaps
Swedish police: 55 official no-go zones and 186 ghettos. Ireland almost had an officially sanctioned purpose built ghetto but it seems to have been shelved…for now.
“the Clongriffin Mosque will consist of: (a) a three-story domed mosque and cultural center with towering minarets; (b) a two-story conference center including a reception foyer, conference room, restaurant, banquet hall, kitchens and ancillary accommodation; (c) a three-story 16-classroom primary school and a two-story 12-classroom secondary school; (d) a two-story fitness center with a gym, sauna, steam room and an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool; (e) a bookshop, library and mortuary; and (f) three four-story blocks of two-bedroom apartments with ground floor shops.
So where did he go? I would be more worried he left something on the tower andgoing gto blow it up later. I mean why climb and not do the jump if a parachuter or glider or what ever.
There’s a whole flock of them !
Three people are on the run in France after being sighted climbing Paris’s landmark Eiffel Tower early Sunday, police say.
Security agents called police after seeing the group at 5:30 a.m., but the climbers escaped before officers arrived, a police department spokesman told CNN.
