EIGHT MEN WHO were arrested yesterday in connection with an investigation into dissident republican activity have all had their detention time extended, gardaí have confirmed.
The eight men were arrested following a garda raid of a commercial premises in Clondalkin yesterday afternoon. The suspects are aged between 24 and 50.
During a follow-up search of the premises, a loaded firearm was recovered and has now been sent to Garda Headquarters for forensic examination by ballistic experts.
A further 10 searches have been carried out as part of this on-going investigation, gardaí say.
All men are being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, 1939 at various Garda stations in Dublin.
