Elderly woman dies after falling into a fire

It is understood the 92-year-old fell into the open fire in her fireplace.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING an incident in which a 92-year-old woman in Co Mayo was killed.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm last night at a property in Ballina. It is understood that the elderly woman fell into the open fire in her fireplace.

However it is possible that the 92-year-old died of natural causes before falling into the fire.

No foul play is suspected but gardaí are investigating how the incident occurred.
