Gardaí to send file to DPP on 2005 murder after releasing man without charge

The man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the long-running case.

A MAN IN his forties who was arrested this evening as part of an investigation into the murder of a 27-year-old man in 2005 has been released without charge.

The remains of Eoin McCarthy, who was from Clondalkin, Dublin 22, were found on 4 November 2005 in Ballinagee, Hollywood, Co Wicklow.

A new development arose this week when a man was arrested in connection with the case.

He was detained on Wednesday under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Eastern Region.

In a statement this morning, a garda spokesperson said the male released without charge.

“A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions,” the garda spokesperson said on the investigation’s next steps.
