Woman dies and three seriously injured in second fatal road incident in Meath today

Earlier this morning, a man was killed in a collision involving a truck and a van on the M3 at Dunshaughlin.

A WOMAN HAS died and three people have been seriously injured following a second fatal road traffic collision in Co Meath this morning.

The collision happened on the N51 at Boyerstown at approximately 7.45am this morning.

A woman in her 40s, a passenger in one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A teenage female passenger in the same car was airlifted to Temple Street hospital with serious injuries, while the driver and a third female passenger were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with serious injuries.

The sole occupant of the second car was treated at Connolly Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The N51 remains closed for technical examination.

Earlier today, a separate fatal incident occurred in the early hours on the M3 at Dunshaughlin shortly after 2am, and involved a van and a truck.

The driver of the van, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Navan mortuary, where a post-mortem will take place, and the Coroner has been notified.

The truck driver was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, as a precaution.

The northbound lanes between Junctions 5 and 6 were closed this morning while gardaí carried out a technical examination.

“Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
