OUR LADY’S CHILDREN’S Hospital has confirmed that men selling calendars in Dublin’s city centre today are doing so on behalf of them.
The Facebook page of Dublin Fire Brigade in Swords posted a picture on their Facebook today identifying the sellers of fireman calendars as “bogus”.
The seller was himself dressed as a fireman.
However, Gerry Cully of the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital told TheJournal.ie that the sellers are raising funds for the hospital.
He says that while the men are not firefighters, they are not scam artists either.
“They’re a group of community men who wanted to raise funds for us. They did it last year and I think one of the lads then was a fireman.
“They have come to our rescue this year because funding is down.
“Last year, they were out in all sorts of weather for us.
A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said that the men “do not represent Dublin Fire Brigade”.
