Cyclist in her 20s dies after collision involving truck in Cork city

The collision happened at around 6.15pm yesterday evening.

A CYCLIST IN her 20s has died following a fatal collision involving a bicycle and a truck in Cork city yesterday.

The collision happened at around 6.15pm yesterday at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road.

The cyclist, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

No other injuries were reported.

The road is closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6:30pm yesterday evening are asked to make this footage available.
