'Lovely surprise': A Fine Gael Senator won a car on last week’s Late Late Show

The senator won the car by answering a film trivia question.

FINE GAEL SENATOR JOE O’Reilly won a car on last week’s Late Late Show, which he has described as “a lovely surprise”.

O’Reilly, who represents Cavan in the Seanad, won the Seat compact SUV worth over 30k by answering a trivia question.

The question was: “The iconic DeLorean car featured in which hit movie franchise, alongside the characters Marty McFly and Doc Brown?”

And the answer, of course, was the 1985 classic Back to the Future.

O’Reilly told The Journal today that he was shocked by the news that he had won.

“I am very happy to have won,” he said.

“It’s a lovely surprise. If I’m home for the Late Late, I do the competition. It’s purely fun and it’s just one entry.”
