'You watch': Trump claims fuel prices in Ireland will 'drop like a rock' once Iran war is over

The US President was asked what he has to say to Irish people who are paying “sky high” prices because of his war in the Middle East.

DURING AN OVAL Office press conference between the Taoiseach and the US President, which was dominated by the issue of Iran, Trump had one simple message for Irish consumers.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin is in the White House for the annual St Patrick’s Day visit with US President Donald Trump.

During the 40-minute press conference that was held with the two leaders in the Oval Office, Trump was asked by an Irish reporter what he had to say to people in Ireland who are paying “sky-high” fuel prices because of his war in Iran.

The US President responded:

“I have a lot of friends from Ireland, they’re very happy that I’m getting rid of a nuclear power, a nuclear terrorist.

“And as soon as that war is over, which will be soon, your prices are going to drop like a rock. You watch.”

Since the US and Israel launched their war on Iran earlier this month, the cost of home heating fuel and petrol and diesel has soared.

Earlier in the meeting, Trump said they were “not ready to leave” Iran yet.

“If we left right now, it would take 10 years for them to rebuild. But we’re not ready to leave yet,” he said.

“But we will be leaving in the near future. We’ll be leaving in pretty much the very near future.”
