Google readies Siri rival for its Android OS - report

The secret project is codenamed ‘Majel’ after the actress who voiced the Star Trek computer…

GOOGLE IS REPORTED to be lining up a rival to Apple’s revolutionary Siri voice assistant for release on its Android mobile operating system in the New Year.

According to Android and Me, the tech giant is working on a very secret project which is codenamed Majel – a reference to Majel Barrett-Roddenberry who is the voice of the Federation Computer on Star Trek.

The Majel would be an evolution of Voice Actions, currently available on most Android phones, where you are required to say specific phrases like “send text to…” in order for it to work.

Like Siri, Majel would allow a more natural use of language and would be more capable of identifying what a user is saying, unless that user is Scottish as we recently discovered!

The Slate is quick to play down what is just a rumour at the moment and notes somewhat dryly that the speculation is providing an excuse for tech blogs to talk about Star Trek, and even include clips of the Federation Computer in action.

Clips just like this one:

The guards hands are tied until the government do something about our judiciary – no point in bringing in facial recognition or hate speech laws while judges are letting habitual criminals off with suspended sentences after multiple crimes.

@tidASeIe: exactly Laurence. There should be minimum sentences which the judges has to comply with. They still use the so-called poor box even if they are not allowed.

Far right had nothing to do with recent riots. Media being told to try and blame and discredit them!
Behaviour like we have seen is just typical of that by those tribes that part of the country. Nothing new they have been like that for decades!
Right and center right governments are regaining power all over the world. Left wing globalisation and cultural integration polices have had their day
