UPGRADING YOUR HOME to make it more energy efficient is a great way to save money, improve the comfort of your home, and live more sustainably.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) wants you to have a more energy-efficient home, with government-funded grants and expert advice to support your Home Energy Upgrade journey. These grants can facilitate all manner of upgrades, including the installation of a heat pump, wall and attic insulation, or the installation of solar panels.

In order to make the most of the resources available to you, it’s important to understand the three straightforward steps to upgrading your home.

The first step is all about establishing whether your home is eligible for a grant. In order to be eligible your home must have been built and occupied before 2011, and have a Meter Point Reference Number.

Once you know that you’re eligible, you can move on to the second step of deciding what kind of upgrade or upgrades you’d like, choosing from a range of attic and wall insulation, solar PV, a heat pump and more. Grants allow you to tailor your approach to upgrades and choose the specific options that suit you, or get it all done in one go.

After you know what kind of energy upgrades you want for your home, it’s time to apply either through an SEAI-registered contractor, or to contacted an SEAI-registered One Stop Shop who can manage the entire project for you

Visit SEAI online to explore other home energy upgrade avenues and learn more about what these upgrades can do for you and your home. You can also explore a range of One Stop Shop service providers here.
